The Sport PRO is a good choice for working with any breed of dog because of its ten intensity levels that can be quickly adjusted with the dial on the side of the transmitter. You can teach yardwork/obedience and enforce known commands with lower levels of stimulation, and if necessary use higher levels to stop unwanted chasing or to overcome strong distractions.
The Sport PRO is also one of the only systems that has Tone and Vibration features that you can use without having to change the dial, so you have the option of teaching multiple non-stimulation commands that you can access quickly from the transmitter.
The Sport PRO uses the same top-of-the-line PRO collar as the Garmin PRO 70 and PRO 550, which means it also has a built-in Bark Limiter. However, unlike the PRO units, the Sport has both an Autorise feature and a Direct Set option. I really prefer the Direct Set feature for tough barkers that need higher levels.

I'm a 74 year old woman with two hip replacements and back issues. This is my second brand of electronic collar. I'm not a hunter but need a collar for my very headstrong, rather large rescue Lab, Rottweiler, Beagle cross. I know! He's conflicted, but a fun loving happy dog. This Garmin collar is easy to set up right out of the box, is easy to understand and easy to use the hand held controls to really dial in what works and use no more than necessary. I've put a lot of hours of training into my dog and this collar will help to advance that even more.
I had one question during my ordering process and I received an answer immediately.
This collar is far superior to the first one I had which was another well reviewed brand of similar cost.

Hesitant but desperate

We've got a Great very smart and precious six month old Black Lab. She's very eager to please however, when it came to jumping on people, young and old 🥴 and not good at leaving things she shouldn't get into. Shock collars seemed to an abusive way to get her to mind, but we didn't want her to injure an infant or elderly person. We have previously purchased a Bizzie Bed from Gun Dog Supply and were very impressed with it's quality, so thought we would try a satisfaction guaranteed E-collar. The DVD was very helpful, and we began by trying the tone and vibrate mode. Got her attention and briefly worked, but found shock setting three really caught her attention without being too traumatic. Long story short, we've taken down our carpet protection barriers and she stays on the designated areas in our house. When we tell her to leave something we don't want her to be messing with indoors and outside, she MINDS! Absolutely a great tool and can be used with gentleness, compassion and kindness. Highly recommended but like any other tool, there is a learning curve.

I have been buying products from Gun Dog Supply for years. Everything that I have purchased has met or exceeded my expectations.
I have had several training collars over the years. But, I like this one the best. It is much easier to use.
I run my dogs several time daily. I have deer, turkeys, geese, squirrels, and pet ducks on the property. My wife frowns upon the dogs chasing her pet ducks. This collar has been an effective tool in training my dogs.

Very easy to set up and use. Steve has several videos online that explain how to use the various features. Since this collar performs a lare number of tasks the videos were very helpful even to an experienced person who has used them for decades.
The best thing is the new user interface. You can use most ot the common functions without taking your eyes off of your dog. This is much better than the last one I had.
Also, there are separate buttons for tone and vibrate. The last one I had only allowed you to use one or the other a time. You had to look at the device to change from one to the other. I prefer using the tone as a first option. Then I use vibrate if the dog does not respond. Neither of these hurts the dog. As a last resort I use momentary or continuous shock.

Easy To Use & It Works!

I've used an Alpha 100 for years when I was hunting my Beagles and loved the features, however both of my darling girls have passed away. I have a young Doberman now and since she is not a hunting breed and stays much closer to me when we hike out, I decided I wanted an e-collar that was easy and simple to use. After some research and watching a few of Steve's video reviews, I felt that the Sport Pro was exactly what I needed. I am not disappointed in this product.

I purchased the Tri-Tronics SPORT PRO by Garmin based on the excellent information available on Gun Dog Supply's website. I have used all of the features of the Garmin except bark control. The night lights are great for keeping track of dog in the dark while she explores our 2 acre property. The included instructional DVD deserves a 5star rating as well! Our dog wags her tail when I take out the collar as she knows it is time to play!

My Brittany responds very quickly, setting is at 3 only, he mostly responds to tone or vibrate. It lasts for at least days (8 hours) in between charges... I've owned several others, but this Garmin Sport Pro is the best at the price. Gun dog supply is the best and fastest delivery of products.

Great product, like the fact it has 3 options, tone , vibrate and stimulation. In training my new puppy, vibration is as far as I need to go.
This unit is easy to learn and operate. Many times, you can skip the electrical zap and using the tone or vibration features. Made a big difference in the way our possessed aussiedoodle behaves during a walk. At times, the devil dog ignores the tone and/or vibration and does his own thing. That's when you try the zapper. Luckily, the amplitude of the signals can be adjusted. And there is always some level of amplitude that gets his/her attention. You just need to be sure and put the collar unit on snugly. There are many devices like this on the market, but the ones I've seen just don't have all the features or don't work as well. The quality and durable appearance gives you confidence that if you follow use and care of the device, you really can't go wrong.

Well i got another gundog, not to hunt but because I love the personality and intelligence of these dogs. Jasper is 8 months old and knows most commands and is training well but as the spring comes and the ducks and geese on our lake show up we have been having a issue with running away. I understand his drive, but I am nervous about not having him in eyeshot. The Garmin collar has been a great addition to training and he seems to understand what i want from him. Our walk by the lake on Saturday was amazing. He stopped when he got on point and felt my gentle zap and command 'come.' I really had a hard time going to a training collar but it was a great decision. The ease of use with the buttons and quick change in levels in one hand was very well designed. I would recommend this to anyone, it is not a punishment collar, it is a training tool. Thank you Garmin, you made a winner. Steve made it a good price, great video and website info.

Recently purchased a Garmin Sport Pro E collar from Gun Dog Supply. Along with the collar I received Robin MacFarlane Basic Obedience E collar Training DVD and a long lead. The extra penny was well worth it. Being new to using an e collar, the DVD was an excellent resource. I watched it a number of times so that I could use the same techniques demonstrated in the DVD. My dog has done amazingly well after only one week of training with the collar. The collar also has a vibrate button and a tone button which I have used frequently and my dog responds very well. I use the tone button when he was 100 yards away and he heard the tone from the collar, turned around and came when called.

I have the collar set at a very low detection and my dog responds well. The collar also has a tone button and a vibrate button which I have used which my dog also responds to very well. This product is great. It gives you four options to get your dogs attention.

Great product for training my wirehaired pointing griffon. He is a high energy dominate pup who is the most determined puppy I have owned in my 70 years. I purchased this with the bark feature which I don't really need because a little punch on occasion with the regular setting has been sufficient to train him barking without purpose is unnecessary.

Dial setting for intensity control is excellent design which replicates my Tritronics unit. In emergency situation flipping it to a more intense setting can be accomplished without visual reference.

Our GSP (9 months) is good on recall when she is close - and when she is not running 30 MPH in the other direction. The e-collar helps us get her attention. This is my first ever electronic collar - I haven't used it for a correction yet, because I'm totally new to this training process - I'm still learning about how and why to use it. This is what I like: it's easy to figure out and seems easy to use, my dog doesn't mind wearing it. What I wish were better or different: (1) I wish the tone had different volume settings, as it's too loud for a dog that's wearing the collar. (2) I wish the "shock" feature had more levels. I tried a level 1 on the palm of my hand - couldn't feel it. Tried a level 2 and it buzzed me. Tried a level 3 and I felt like I had been burned and had to throw the thing on the floor. I have a very sensitive border collie who is going to need something in between these settings. Also, wish the "continuous" button was bigger, or had texture on it. I would hate to hit this button by accident when I was trying to press something else.
