What's New in the SportDOG SD-1225X
Up to 21 levels of continuous STIM or 7 levels of momentary STIM with either non-stimulating tone or vibration (depending on transmitter mode)
Backward-compatible with previous SD-1225 series remote collars
The SportDOG SportHunter 1225X is a 3/4 mile range e-collar that features tone, vibration, or up to 21 levels of static stimulation depending on transmitter mode. The remote can be operated one-handed without having to look at it, letting you keep your eyes on your dog while training or in the field.
Both the transmitter and receiver are waterproof and submersible.
You can customize your SportDOG Field Trainer SD-1225X to match your training preference. It comes set up in MODE-5 (a 21-level continuous one dog collar with non-stimulation tone), but it can easily be changed into 7 different modes with different button configurations.
Customize your transmitter to your training needs. The wide range of stimulation levels and gradual increases between levels on the SD-1225X are particularly useful with sensitive dogs or breeds.
The No-look design allows you to keep an eye your dog and not on your transmitter.
The comfortable "soft coat" transmitter finish makes this unit a pleasure to handle.
The SD-1225X features a 3/4 mile range, a slim profile collar receiver that ensures a perfect fit, and a compact transmitter that's easy to handle
Gun Dog Supply Exclusive: One Hour BASIC OBEDIENCE Ecollar Training Video
$40 Value -- You get this FOR FREE when you buy this ecollar.
We are proud to announce that Professional Dog Trainer Robin MacFarlane is working with us! We just wrapped another video shoot, and are launching her latest DVD.
What's interesting about these videos is that Robin has never worked with these dogs before, and several younger dogs have never been trained on an ecollar.
First, Robin walks you through the basic obedience commands showing what proper form looks like.
Next, Robin shows how she introduces the ecollar to two of Steve's puppies, Jack & Tilly, and shows you how to find the right STIM level to communicate with your dog.
She then turns that into a lesson for your dog to recognize that STIM means pay attention to your handler and expands that into a basic recall.
Additional segments include teaching RECALL, PLACE, SIT, and HEEL.
Easy to upgrade to 2 or 3 dogs without loss of tone/vibration feature
Up to 21 levels of continuous stimulation or 7 levels of momentary stimulation depending on transmitter mode

Weighs only 4 ounces
Measures 7" x 1 3/4" x 7/8" with antenna
Transmitter MODES
The SportDOG 1225X gives you the option of customizing the transmitter to fit YOUR needs. It also allows you the option of changing the stimulation setup as your needs change or if you want different options in different situations.
Modes include Continuous and Momentary with Tone or Vibration. Two or Three Dog Mode features one button per dog with either Tone (Mode 3) or Vibration (Mode 4). You also have the option of Continuous and Momentary with Tone and the ability to activate/deactivate the Locator Beeper (sold separately).
Change MODES in seconds by setting the transmitter dial to the mode you want. Next press the recessed button on the back of the transmitter. The transmitter light then flashes back the number of the mode you have selected. Modes can be changed as often as you like. Change them for different situations or training styles.

Another feature in the 1225X collar is the ability to change stimulation settings at the collar. The collar has a low, medium and high setting. This allows you the option of finding the correct range of stimulation for your dog. Lower the overall stimulation choices for more sensitive dogs and raise the levels for hard-headed or stubborn ones.
You can change the collar setting at any time. You can also have collars set up on different levels and work them from the same transmitter. This allows you the option of working sensitive and stubborn dogs from the same transmitter.

Stimulation from the SportDOG SD-1225X
The SD-1225X has multiple intensity levels, which allows you to choose the stimulation that is best for your dog
Intensity levels can be quickly adjusted with the dial on the side of the transmitter, meaning you can instantly adjust intensity whenever distractions increase
Teach yardwork/obedience and enforce known commands with lower levels of stimulation
Use higher levels to stop unwanted chasing or to overcome strong distractions
Up to 21 levels of continuous stimulation or 7 levels of momentary stimulation depending on which transmitter mode you choose
The SportDOG SD1225X models can have a low and a high button for continuous stimulation. The low continuous stimulation levels and gradual increases between levels on the SD1225X are particularly useful with sensitive dogs or breeds.
SportDOG SD-1225X Range
Up to 3/4-mile range, which is ample for most dog training or hunting situations. Actual range depends on training conditions, including weather, terrain, the presence of cover, etc.
The SportDOG SD-1225X is like a little brother to the popular SD-1825X. It uses the exact same collar receiver as the 1825X, but with a smaller transmitter and a slightly reduced range (3/4 mile vs. 1 mile).
Like the SD-1825X, the SD-1225X receiver collar has 3 programmable stimulation settings, allowing you to choose between low, medium, and high stimulation to more accurately address your dog's stimulation needs.
The SD-1225 transmitter doesn't have the toggle switch found on the 1825X, so you have fewer modes to choose from, but it still maintains all the same functions as the 1825X: continuous stimulation, momentary stimulation, vibration, and tone.
The multi-dog modes the SD-1225X offer continuous stimulation only, one button for each dog.
The 1225X has up to 21 levels of continuous stimulation, and 7 levels of momentary stimulation.
The modes to help you personalize your system to fit YOUR dog's needs include:
Continuous, Momentary, Tone with Vibration on the dial (1 Dog Only)
Continuous, Momentary, Vibration with Tone on the dial (1 Dog Only)
High Continuous, Medium Continuous, Low COntinuous with Tone on the dial (1 Dog only)
High Continuous, Medium Continuous, Low COntinuous with Vibration on the dial (1 Dog only)
Continuous, Momentary, Activate Remote Beeper (sold separately) with Tone on the Dial (1 dog only)
Dog 1, Dog 2, Dog 3 (all continuous) with Tone on the Dial
Dog 1, Dog 2, Dog 3 (all continuous) with Vibration on the Dial
The biggest difference between the 1225X and the smaller collars is that it has a wider range of stimulation choices on the collar. This has the low stim mode, the medium stim mode, and the high stim mode, so it's going to cover a really broad range of dogs. If you have a dog that's extremely sensitive you can set it down on low. If you have a dog that's really tough and hardheaded, needing a higher stimulation level, then this collar will step up.
The transmitter is the exact same size as the 825X, so it's a little bit smaller than the 1825X. It's probably my favorite size of the transmitters that SportDOG has. It's not extremely small like the 425X, but it's not big like the 1825X. The 1225X doesn't have the toggle switch that the 1825X has, so it is more limited in its multi-dog functionality.
The SD-1225X has been a popular system for us. It has a little more range than the under $200 set, plus some higher-end features without the high-end price tag.
Excellent product! At this price point having the ability to use the V/T mode on 3 dogs from one remote trainer is a game changer for me. Running 3 dogs, this option was not available on the earlier version of the 1225x I purchased several years ago.
Pros
Excellent product. The V/T option when running 3 upland dogs is a game changer.
Cons
None.

This training collar was recommended by my dog's trainer. I am not training a hunting dog, but rather a house pet and this collar is easy to set up and use.
