Steve Says: Garmin TT25 TRACKING + TRAINING Add-on Collar
Let's talk about what's new in the new Alpha series of collars. We have two new collars: the T20, which is a tracking-only collar, and the TT25, which is both a tracking and training collar.
There are several new features in these new collars, the first one being dynamic updates. In previous generations of collars, update rates were set to a standard set time. The new collars have standard set update rates, but they also offer the option of a dynamic update rate. In an effort to conserve battery life, the dynamic update rate will decrease the frequency of updates to the handheld when the dog is motionless. This extends the battery life, giving you up to 68 hours of battery from a single charge.
The next new feature is multicolored running lights. On previous models, we've had running lights that you could control from the handheld, which allowed you to turn them on and off if your dogs were running, especially in low light conditions or at night. These new collars now give you seven different color options so you can identify your dogs in the dark by changing their light color.
These new Garmin collars allow you to change the flex bands. In the past, the flex band contained a wire going to the GPS antenna. In these new T-series collars, the flex band can be easily switched out in the field by removing just two screws, decreasing downtime.
The multicolored status light is a major upgrade on these new T-series collars. The status light flashes in the center of the collar when it's turned on, and the color indicates what your collar is doing:
Yellow: searching for GPS signal
Green: acquired GPS signal
Blue: pairing mode
Red: low battery
Having the multicolored status light makes it easier to look at your collar and tell when it's ready to use.
The TT25 and T20 come in one standard size and are smaller than previous regular collars. (Garmin does not offer MINI and regular sizes of these.) They are sized so they will fit most dogs really well. It's not so small that it's going to be a problem on a large dog, yet it's not so big it's going to cause a problem with smaller beagles.
Automatic WiFi updates are a great new feature. You can sync the collars to your home WiFi network using your Alpha 300 handheld, and when you put the collars on the charger, they will go online and check to see if there are any updates. Then, they automatically install the new updates. This will save you a lot of time and keep you from wondering if there's a new update.
Works great I would buy another one the mini is ideal for beagles

TT25 mini
August 15, 2024
I like the wifi update of firmware and software, collar size is very similar to my TT15 mini's, it connects quickly. The reason it didn't get a 5 star, and I realize this is pretty minor, but they placed the antenna on the opposite side compared to all of my TT15 mini collars. Kinda a pain when placing the collar on the dog since it is the opposite of my TT15 minis.

GarminTT25 Tracking Collar
July 23, 2024
I previously purchased the Pro 550 Plus training and TT25 tracking system. My Griffon loves to hunt in heavy cover and tall grass and this system lets me see where and what she is doing. I now have a four month old Pudelpointer that I am training and will be using the new TT25 collar for training and hunting with both dogs. I am very happy with the system and will be able to monitor both dogs at the same time with one devise.
Pros
Easy to use and able to use the system on multiple hunts without needing to recharge.
Only needing to have one controller for both dogs.
Cons
None...have had the first system for three years with no problems.

Functionality of this unit is absolutely amazing. Use it on a daily basis from the GPS tracking feature, to the Geo-Fence and bark collar it is amazing as long as it's working. Unfortunately, I also know that their customer service is top-notch as the first collar stopped charging after two months. They did send me a new one with about a two week turnaround time. Hopefully this one holds up because this was an expensive investment.
Pros
Loaded with features. Extremely valuable tool for any dog that ranges outside of your sideline. Several helpful tools for day-to-day training and Dog management. Geofence, point notifications, and bark collar are great additions to the tracking and training features. Battery life is impressive. When we are out camping/hunting in the field, I can easily get two full days worth of use out of one charge. When we

Works as represented. Wish Garmin would update it's GPS plug style. The tracking collar has made a big difference in my hunting
July 21, 2024
I'm hard of hearing and even with hearing aids I had difficulty keeping up with my dog with a beeper collar. The Garmin changed that. A suggested improvement would be an optional tone to sound until silenced when the system senses a point. It can be easy to miss the short vibration and the "stop sign".

550 pro plus and TT25
July 20, 2024
Started out training pups with the 550 pro and TT10's. Quickly found out that I needed to be able to track these boys because their no pant huggers. I love the Range of stimulation, the ease of use while training/hunting, and value of the 550 so I upgraded to the 550 Pro Plus. I went with the TT25 collars for all the reasons they advertise. Awesome range and battery life and locating on point. I wouldn't think of switching. At least until Garmin comes out with product better than this.

I am more than pleased with the tt25. I had two Tt15minis and was pleased with them, but the tt25 features have made me not go back to the tt15 mini. The battery last forever. I love the colored light indicator in the front. So far has been durable. I wish they were a little smaller for my smaller dog. I think it bothers me more than her.

Garmin TT25 EXT Collar
July 11, 2024
The collar was received according to expectations. The collar was easily assembled and fits the dog well. I like the smaller size and less weight than an older TT15. The setup with my handheld and functioning with it worked well. Once tracking season gets busy in the fall, I will have more usage.
Pros
Lightweight. I will like the multiple colors for the lights on it.
Cons
The antenna seemed to curve a little to much forward toward the face of the dog. I bent it back and layed it under something so it retained more curve toward the back. It seemed to help.

Reliable tracking & training collar
March 1, 2024
This TT 25 collar is a replacement collar for my mini TT15 dog collar that would no longer power up. I thought it was the battery and got a replacement battery from gun dog supply and found out that the battery was not the problem. It turns out that the TT mini 15 is discontinued so I called gun dog supply and spoke with Dave in customer service and he answered all my questions. I was a little worried that the collar would be too big and after checking my French Brittany's neck size I ordered the collar on line on a Monday and it was shipped the same day. I live in Northeastern Minnesota and I had the collar by Thursday. Even after a shipping delay in Missouri due to bad weather!
The collar fit my dog perfectly! The actual unit is a little larger then the mini 15 and the antenna is longer but it still fit's my dog's neck fine and is not to big for her. The actual antenna wraps around her and is out of her way and doesn't hit the trees and shrubs like the shorter antenna did in the past. If I had to I could purchase the shorter flex band but at this point I don't see the need.
I sent the batteries back and the very next day after Gun Dog Supply received them I was notified by email that I was getting a credit back on my credit card. Thanks Kathleen for re-sending the replacement batteries for the original batteries that were lost in transit!
As mentioned I live in Northeastern Minnesota on the edge of a wilderness and 40 miles from town and have had the Garmin Alpha 100 and TT mini 15 now for almost 6 years and use them almost every day either being outside working, hiking or hunting grouse in the fall. The peace of mind knowing where my dog is at all times you can not put a price on!
I did send the TT mini 15 back to Garmin and they refurbished the unit so now I have a back up.
Pros
Fantastic Customer Service from Kathleen and Dave at Gun Dog Supply, quick shipping with UPS
Battery life is SO much Longer!
Collar updates by itself with my home WiFi connection.
Cons
None
