When you order most of our collars, you get a FREE machine-stamped brass name plate (2.75" x .75") with up to 4 lines of text which we attach to your collar using rivets.

Our tags will fit up to 4 lines of information.

The top and bottom lines are longer and will fit 20 letters. Lines 2 and 3 are shorter - fitting only 18. This is because of the placement of the rivets.

Our ID Plate machine can stamp the following characters:
  • Letters A - Z (Caps Only)
  • Numbers 0 - 9
  • Special Characters / - . , ' & @ $ # ( ) : ! " _ * + =

    Instructions for attaching name plates using rivets:

    Most of our collars are pre-punched for ID plates. If your collar is not, or you are adding a second ID plate:
    1. Use the ID plate to mark where it will be attached to the collar
    2. For leather collars, use a leather punch tool, ice pick, or hammer and nail to make the holes for the rivets
    3. For nylon collars, the holes should be melted using a soldering iron or a heated nail or ice pick
    Once you have your holes punched:
    1. Line the plate up on top of the holes and put the stud part of the rivet through from the bottom
    2. Put the crown over the stud and hammer it closed on a hard surface (concrete or steel)
    3. You should drive the 2 pieces together until the upper surface flattens out
    4. Your I.D. tag is now attached!

    We get some really interesting ones with information that really has no place on a dog tag.

    We will put anything you want on your ID plates, but keep in mind that the main purpose of an ID plate is to get your dog home safely if he gets lost. In our opinion, anything else has no place on a tag.

    Got my ID name tag 2 weeks ago. It is awesome. Easy to put on the collar with a leather punch. It's easy to read and will not fade. Also super cheap compared to other tags of less quality. I'll be getting another one for my other dog next. :)

    This is the second time I have ordered these plates.i ordered the first set for my dogs when my dogs ended up a mile away from home without my knowledge. I ordered this one to go with my new Bloodhound. Everyone always asks where I got them and I am sure to recommend the website. I think they are better than any others I have found.

    The ID plates had the exact info I requested. They are thick enough to be solid but pliable enough to bend to the dogs neck circumference. I bent them and then drilled the holes, worked great. I used a river set tool, but a hammer and good solid surface underneath would work also

    Just what I needed

    The brass name plate from Gun Dog Supply worked perfectly. My wife would not let me buy a new collar, so the name plates were the only way to go. The price was right and my message is accurate. I followed the suggestions from the website regarding content and was able to include 4 phone numbers. The instructions were clear and I had the plates on the existing collar in no time.

    • There are none. If you need something like this, it's a no brainer. If you don't have a soldering iron, finding a hot point to melt a hole might make the process more difficult.

    I was searching for name plates for my passed pets memorial when I came across GunDog.

    I ordered 3 different plates, 2 for the passed and 1 for our present rescue. I figured these would be made of thin brass plated sheet metal however I proceeded anyway.

    I received them very quickly which was a surprise. First thing I noticed was the weight, not sheet metal. The quality was great and everything was correct.

    If you don't have your furbabie's info on their collar, why are they wearing a collar???? We KNOW it's not for their leash, because that can cause bruising of their airways and bronchial tubes. They have a harness right???

    Great for wrestling brothers. No more searching for lost tags! Outstanding old-fashioned service too!

    I made nice looking reflectos out of these blank brass ones until more durable reflective collar tag available. See images. As lifelong dog owners both, I also bought an engraved one for my brother's new running puppy to let him in on this great tip for a better tag.

    • Only like $3 ea (June 2021). Super service with any questions or comments. Fast delivery only few days.Easy to install if you can hold the small pieces for a few seconds. (I used a hammer and ice pick to start the hole in the collare, much easier. Bendable to neck curvature. No more searching for lost hanging tags after wrestling/playing.

    • 4 lines of text great but should be able to add two phone numbers on one of the lines. No reflective choice so I just got blank ones and added reflecto tape to them for a nice affordable workaround for now since I have favorite collars and don't want a new reflecto collar in the choices available anywhere..I got the tape larger and more secure under the buttons in the 2nd orange one.     I make collars, leashes, holsters, sheaths, bags...if it can made with leather I can do most of it. A thing that's been a pain in the butt is name plates for collars. The ones you get at Petco or Petsmart at their kiosks function but are hard to shape, take forever to type in the information and are damned expensive ($12 here). The brass tags here are just as customizable, much less expensive even with shipping and are easily formed to fit the curve of the collar. I couldn't ask for a better solution.

    I needed a name plate with rivets to attach to the nylon 'thin blue line' collar we got for our dog. Gun Dog Supply had just what we needed. There were easy instructions on how to melt holes in the collar and that worked well. We got it delivered quickly as well.

    Nice product for a reasonable price. We needed a tag that would take the abuse of our two German Shepherds wrestling and bitting at each other's necks. Plastic and hanging tags just would not hold up. Attaching these to their collars with rivets supplied did the trick

    Comes without instructions assuming that if you are ordering this product you have the skills/ tools to install them. I found that pre-bending the plates to the desired curvature for the collar made the installation more professional in final appearance. Thanks for making an attractive product at a reasonable price.

    These name plates are fantastic and exactly what I was looking for! They were also an amazing price.
