Dogtra Pathfinder 2 GPS + E-Collar COMBO Range
The Dogtra Pathfinder 2 GPS Connector has a "line of sight" range of up to 9 miles. Realistically, this isn't going to happen in most of the places that we spend time with our dogs, so the actual usable range will be MUCH less than 9 miles depending on hunting conditions, including weather, terrain, and the presence of cover.
I absolutely love the pathfinder 2 ! The shipping was fast and the system is very easy to set up. I feel a lot safer knowing I can find hank if he ever decides to run off . He is a German shorthair pointer and will be train to be a blood dog with the pathfinder 2 I will be able to train him better and stop his bad habits. It's so cool to see his every movement when just going for a run up on the hill.
Pros
Light speed GPS tracking
Training e collar
Waterproof
Affordable

Dual Purpose Dogtra Pathfinder 2 Mini

Geo Fencing- We live on an expansive property where the dogs have a large acreage to rome on near our house. Problem we had was that our locaiton is next to a busy highway and trying to use an inground wire system or a base station style wireless fence were not feasible. The Spoton and Halo systems require cell service, subscriptions, or other limiting factors for use in our rural setting. We also run the dogs so we needed GPS collars for hunting. The Garmin Alpha line are nice units but the features for the collars are limited when trying to use for efencing and hunting. My wife and I will switch off the bluetooth connection with the gps pendant, depending on who will be with the dogs for that time. Hunting- We are able to track and see the dogs action icon to know if they are resting, running, treed, barking point. Very handy at night so you know where to look with the lights when you get close to the dogs.
Pros
Work as advertised.
Cost per feature is pennies compare to compareable units, a great value
Dogs adjusted right away to the corrections for efencing feature
Extremely accurate Gps position
Mini is the right size for smaller chassis dogs (we've used with 30, 45,& 60# dogs)
Battery life has been great so far, charge when we go to bed and dogs where collars all day.
Cons
More features than we will use, but not cumbersome to navigate around the not needed features.

Awesome tracking combo
June 24, 2024
The Dogra Pathrinder 2 is an awesome collar and receiver combination that uses an app on a smart phone. It's ability to add other dogs (from additional collars) is great when working projects with multiple dogs. Being able to see dogs in the area and ability to set custom alerts to the dog's actions (such as running, etc) is useful. I am also able to quickly download the tracks and import them into another system to view with other data. It's a great tool!! Thank you for putting this together!
Pros
Easy to use, long lasting battery/operation time, ability to follow multiple dogs, easier to get data from the device to move to other applications, phone app is easy to use.
Cons
None

Perfect for the money
April 20, 2023
It's a really good system. If you like technology this is for you. Using your phone and apple watch with it is a great set up. It's not perfectly spot on when it comes to the location of your dog but you can't go into a purchase of this price thinking you'll get the same amount of accuracy as a Garmin. There are no complaints with the collar super good quality over all

One of my connectors was working great and then I go to turn it back on later and it wouldn't do anything! I don't no if this I a problem that a lot of people is seeing or not but that would not have been good if it was in the middle of deer season when we can run dogs. Now I'm having to wait over a week to get a new one bc it is having to be shipped from California bc gun dog supply was out of them.
Pros
I like it bc it's very simple to run and connecting to the collars is quick.
Cons
I run a garmin for years and I liked it! I understand why some of there collar are not compatible with the other bc the Astro system is just track and the alpha is track and train. The pathfinder dogtra 1 and 2 are both track and train so there is no reason the shouldn't be compatible! It's just a money deal dogtra is doing! A lot of people in our deer camp and around our area run this system and that's everybody's con on it! It's evens goes as far as actually making the connect noise when you try to connect the 2 different system and a note pops up says it's not compatible! So common sense tells everybody that pathfinder could come up with a software update and make them compatible. I hope they dont loose alot of customers from this because it's alot of people I talk to and hunt with are thinking about going back to the garmin from it not being compatible

Dogtra vs Garmin
September 19, 2022
Longtime Garmin user. Always interested in trying something new and glad I did. Probably won't replace the Garmin yet but will probably use it a good bit. I have been guiding for almost 30 years in Montana and south Texas so I spend most every day in the field running dogs. If I only had one unit to use every day it would be the Garmin 550 plus. I like the simple features of it over having to look at the screen on the Dogtra and Garmin to make corrections. Right now I would choose the Dogtra over the 200i.
Pros
Map is awesome. Shows right where the dog is in the field. Makes it easy running big running dogs and how to approach them when going in on the point.
Much brighter screen that the 200i.
Easier to pinch and zoom that 200i.
Easy access to my camera if needed
Use it all day and no problem with my phone battery. I have a iPhone 13 pro
Works with the iPhone and Apple Watch. Garmin seems to hate Apple stuff or vice versa.
Big lights on the collars. Easier to see if it?s on or off. Different color lights for battery charge levels.
I like the battery charging system much better than the Garmin.
It seems to find GPS and hook up with my app much quicker than the Garmin.
Cons
Not sure how the touchscreen is going to work in the rain. I have had problems with the rain using my phone with other apps.
One time I could not get my Watch app to work. No other problem with the Watch.
One time I had the app show my dog miles away. I could see her a hundred yards to the front had to call her in and restart everything. Worked fine after that.
Dogs don't respond as well to the Dogtra tone. It just sounds different and they have to get used to it.

Outstanding Collar
June 29, 2022
I owned the Dogtra Pathfinder SE prior to purchasing the Pathfinder 2 and wish you could have an eFence to correct my dog when he left the yard as well as the vibrate and remote feature on the handheld device. I am thrilled that Dogtra added these features to the Pathfinder 2. I thought the Pathfinder SE was solid but after purchasing the Pathfinder 2 I realized they even improved the quality of the handheld device. Also, the battery life seems to be better too for me with the Pathfinder 2 over the Pathfinder SE. Dogtra hit a home run on the Pathfinder 2. You will not be disappointed.
