First, I'm not a novice to using e-collars and have had many in the last 35 years or so. I was excited to see one marketed toward small dogs. I wasn't thrilled when I unpacked and saw the receiver is about the same size as the collars I am currently using but it is slightly lighter. The problem came when I tried to set the level for the dog. I kept dialing up in tiny increments and was a little puzzled when I got to "40" and the dog showed no acknowledgement. At just over 40 he screamed and leapt off the ground; fortunately he is a confident little guy. After having him wear it for a while longer I tried again a few days later with similar results. I know this isn't a typical reaction for this dog as he reacts normally on another brand collar I have. I don't know if this was just a bad collar or if others have had similar issues but given that it really isn't smaller anyway I sent it back. Love Gun Dog Supply return policy!

Cons
Still too big. Says for dogs 7lb and up but really ... it's like a brick on the neck of an 8lb dog. Even that I might let go it if worked more properly.

I use the IQ Mini on my six-month-old ShihTzu puppy (11 pounds). The vibrate function is usually enough to startle her so she listens to me. I've only used the "shock" setting once or twice when she could have been hurt if she didn't come to me immediately.
Good product.
As always, Gun Dog Supply provided me with great service.
