I could write a book on how happy the Dogtra 1902S has made me!
May 3, 2021
After years of getting my arms yanked out of their sockets from a couple of born-to-pull Huskies, I finally decided it was time to do something about the very unpleasant walks with my dogs. Anyone who has ever owned a Husky know this because they are bred to work. I have access to a 2-mile open field at a state park and always wished I could take my two dogs there to just let them be dogs and run freely, keeping them within a reasonable range. After purchasing Dogtra 1902S (two dog system) that freedom soon became a reality. Three days after the purchase they were running and playing together in the open fields, getting all the exercise they needed. My two boys and I are both much happier and enjoying our time together so much more!
They quickly learned the distance range where I was comfortable -- 300 - 500 feet of freedom. I never in my wildest dreams thought my Huskies would run around and play for a few minutes then look back to see where I am to make sure they weren't wandering off too far. I have never seen them happier as they chase each other in the open meadows, but this is only the beginning to the success story. When we walk the trails and I give the command to "Heel" they stick to my side until I give the command "Free," and they go back to roaming.
What truly amazes me about this product is how fast they trained - it only took the first discipline episode for the younger one (age 5), and three sessions for the older one (age 9). Be conscious that just because you have a shocker in your hand doesn't mean you need to be authoritarian. Your dogs want to please you, but they don't always understand that what you want is for their safety and, just like humans, they can be stubborn. My boys have learned that when they listen to my voice, and sometimes a "paige" buzzer, I only stop them for a little while and they have so much more overall freedom. As the human, you must still encourage and reward them for their good behavior with lots of love and a few well deserved treats. Always reinforce the positives.
Pros
The battery lasts and lasts. Week 4 and 25+ hours of use, I have recharged collars only once. The transmitter is still at full power.
The system is powerful enough to get their attention. My Huskies used to run off chasing wild animals, and out of my ability to control them. Now they watch the racoons and squirrels along with me. They did take off after deer - the true test after being trained - and stopped in their tracks with the shock collar function at only half power.
The ergonomics of the controller are perfect. Perfect size. Easy to see overall and to differentiate between dogs. One hand reach for all the functions, with "paige" (vibrator) in front and shock on side. The collars have green flashing LEDs so you know the battery level is sufficient.
It might sound like a little thing, but the carrying case is laid out perfectly. Foam protection of all components. Plus things actually go back in the way they came out - each and every time.
Cons
None! But please, owners, test what this feels like on your hand at a low level so you know what your dog will feel on his neck. This has very powerful settings and could be considered abusive if used without empathy. From a range of zero to 127, my Huskies responded instantly at level 60.

Above and beyond!
December 12, 2022
The collar works as advertised and comes in a great carrying case. Easy to use and straight forward instructions.
What was really excellent was the service provided by Claire. The original collar was lost somewhere in Mississippi and Claire sent a second collar out to me via FedEx and it arrived just in time to keep travel plans intact.
Claire was patient, understanding and a pleasure to work with! In this day and age when I thought customer service was dead, she let me know that it was not the case at GDS!
I would recommend GDS to everyone. Thank you again for your great service.

Good collar, needs a change in the clip on the transmitter
December 30, 2020
Five years ago, I purchased a 1902 and returned it because I felt that the space between the end of the receiver and the collar was going to catch sticks and weeds. I still have that concern. After returning the 1902, I purchased a 2302 NCP and liked everything about it except the magnetic switch on the receivers. The 2302 also has the old style plastic post and clip that works great when moving the the transmitter to different vests, coats, etc. The plastic post and clip is no longer offered by Dogtra on their collars. So the positives for the 1902 are the push button on/off switch on the receivers, separate buttons for page and nick for two dogs and size of the transmitter and receiver. The negatives for the 1902 are the space at the end of the receiver, the metal clip on the transmitter that is hard to spread on the transmitter and the long period of time that it takes for the transmitter to shut off when the blue button is held down. I drilled a hole ad mounted a plastic post to the metal clip on the 1902 transmitter and it is working for me.
Pros
Push button on/off switch on the receivers.
Separate buttons for page and nick for two dogs.
Compact size of the transmitter and receiver.
Cons
The space at the end of the receiver between the receiver and the collar.
The metal clip on the transmitter that is hard to spread.
Long period of time that it takes for the transmitter to shut off when the blue button is held down.

Collar Material Needs More Flex
December 19, 2020
Easy to set up and easy to use with 2 dogs. Both the collars on my Golden Retriever and English Setter slip around and do not stay where placed. This is not my first collar. I have never had this problem with Tri-Tronics. I believe there are two issues: 1) the receiver is too large snd 2) the collar material is too stiff. Unless almost choking both dogs I can't seem to get them to stay in place. Range is as advertised and they do appear to be water proof.
Pros
Good range snd easy to use
Cons
Collar doesn't stay in place on any gun dog size neck

Review for Dogtra 1902S Remote Dog Training Collar 2-dog
April 9, 2016
Two of my dogs are hunting and competition dogs. I have limited windows for training and needed a two collar unit. My Dogtra 1902S so far has been excellent. The only thing I don't totally love is that I have to flip a switch to choose between a nick or continuous stimulation. I would rather have to switch between collars and have both types of stimulation available instantly. Other than that I like my new Dogtra better than the unit I replaced with it.

Review for Dogtra 1902S Remote Dog Training Collar 2-dog
November 13, 2015
My dogs are very protective which has led to biting. After a little training which included a zap or two they are under control when away from the house. These collars are great for home, walks and the dog park. My dogs now understood the consequences of bad behavior, and they have perfect manners in public. I don't have to shock them, just a little vibration gets their attention. Great investment!!

Review for Dogtra 1902S Remote Dog Training Collar 2-dog
November 9, 2015
I returned the 1902S and purchased a 2302 NCP. I liked the idea of the curved, smaller receiver on the 1902S, but it's really not any smaller. The way that the collar is fitted to the receiver on the 1902S leaves an area on each end of the receiver that has a big gap between the collar and the dog's neck where sticks could become lodged. If you hunt in cover this collar will likely be a problem. The 2302 collar fits close to the dog's neck and has no area for things to get trapped.
