When you order most of our collars, you get a FREE machine-stamped brass name plate (2.75" x .75") with up to 4 lines of text which we attach to your collar using rivets.

The top and bottom lines are longer and will fit 20 letters. Lines 2 and 3 are shorter - fitting only 18. This is because of the placement of the rivets.

Our ID Plate machine can stamp the following characters:
  • Letters A - Z (Caps Only)
  • Numbers 0 - 9
  • Special Characters / - . , ' & @ $ # ( ) : ! " _ * + =

    Instructions for attaching name plates using rivets:

    Most of our collars are pre-punched for ID plates. If your collar is not, or you are adding a second ID plate:
    1. Use the ID plate to mark where it will be attached to the collar
    2. For leather collars, use a leather punch tool, ice pick, or hammer and nail to make the holes for the rivets
    3. For nylon collars, the holes should be melted using a soldering iron or a heated nail or ice pick
    Once you have your holes punched:
    1. Line the plate up on top of the holes and put the stud part of the rivet through from the bottom
    2. Put the crown over the stud and hammer it closed on a hard surface (concrete or steel)
    3. You should drive the 2 pieces together until the upper surface flattens out
    4. Your I.D. tag is now attached!

    We get some really interesting ones with information that really has no place on a dog tag.

    We will put anything you want on your ID plates, but keep in mind that the main purpose of an ID plate is to get your dog home safely if he gets lost. In our opinion, anything else has no place on a tag.

    I should have ordered more! Great for collars and other items you might drop in the field. Extra rivits were included, in case you need them. The fog is in the water frequently, and it hasn't impacted the tags appearance. As an improvement, I would recommend a kit with a hole punch and a rounded die to make the rivits join and look perfect.

    Got my ID name tag 2 weeks ago. It is awesome. Easy to put on the collar with a leather punch. It's easy to read and will not fade. Also super cheap compared to other tags of less quality. I'll be getting another one for my other dog next. :)

    This is the second time I have ordered these plates.i ordered the first set for my dogs when my dogs ended up a mile away from home without my knowledge. I ordered this one to go with my new Bloodhound. Everyone always asks where I got them and I am sure to recommend the website. I think they are better than any others I have found.

    The ID plates had the exact info I requested. They are thick enough to be solid but pliable enough to bend to the dogs neck circumference. I bent them and then drilled the holes, worked great. I used a river set tool, but a hammer and good solid surface underneath would work also

    The brass name plate from Gun Dog Supply worked perfectly. My wife would not let me buy a new collar, so the name plates were the only way to go. The price was right and my message is accurate. I followed the suggestions from the website regarding content and was able to include 4 phone numbers. The instructions were clear and I had the plates on the existing collar in no time.

    I was searching for name plates for my passed pets memorial when I came across GunDog.I ordered 3 different plates, 2 for the passed and 1 for our present rescue. I figured these would be made of thin brass plated sheet metal however I proceeded anyway. I received them very quickly which was a surprise. First thing I noticed was the weight, not sheet metal. The quality was great and everything was correct.

    We have two GSP's and the odds of them bolting off in hot pursuit after a random small furry animal are very high. I was recently separated from one of them while quail hunting in DeSoto National Forest. Although we found her after a very panicked hour of searching, I did have comfort knowing she had an ID plate with my contact information on it. I'm sure one of my good MS neighbors would have reached out to me. These plates offered by Gun Dog Supply were very easy to attach to our nylon collars, are quite durable, and have a very traditional look about them.

I'm sure the laser engraved tags are good, but for someone who is not so enamored with modernity, this stamped tag is just what I want.     I have ordered so many of these over the years. I now just order them in stacks five or six. I'm sure, they might be the greatest loss leader on this website. I come for a few tags and I leave with a basket full of stuff. I have riveted them to training bags, Dog collars from other places, My camp chair... If I might leave it somewhere, I've probably got one of these tags on it.

    • They're a bit on the big side for collars on small like 25 lb dogs. But you can put a little bend in them with your fingers once they're on the collar and that fixes it.

    Comes without instructions assuming that if you are ordering this product you have the skills/ tools to install them. I found that pre-bending the plates to the desired curvature for the collar made the installation more professional in final appearance. Thanks for making an attractive product at a reasonable price.
