Steve Says:

The Quick Spot is a good light duty vest for visibility, and the breakaway velcro straps help prevent your dog from getting hung up. If you are looking for a heavier duty visibility vest with more secure straps, take a look at the Mendota Visi-Vest or the Sylmar Vests.

I bought them to keep my dogs safe from hunters. They're always running thru the woods and the vests are great. Haven't had one get caught up or torn off yet. The dogs get crazy excited when they see me get their vests! I got the following dogs vests as noted: 60 lb vizsla/lab mix. Very long/tall dog but thin. Sz LG (couldn't use XL because the strap around belly was too long and hit him right in the privates!). 40 lb vizsla. Sz LG. 53 lb English pointer mix. Sz LG. 2 beagles, 25 and 28 lbs. Sz Md. Hope that helps!

Vests fit good considering one dog is a bit rotund, and the other one is long and lean. We bought XLg for both because we needed the length. We can see them great through the woods until they decide to disappear down a hill! Briars cause some damage to the material, but they are holding up nicely and at the price, we'll just buy more if they tear them up!

The vest works great, and I would recommend it, but it's not the most durable product (I'd plan on getting a new one every year or 2 depending on how much you hunt). Between brush getting caught on it, and snagging a fence every now and then, it's just not built to take that much abuse. With that said, I've used other Cabelas brand reflective vests before that are heavier / more durable, but they rubbed my dog raw in her armpits which eventually stopped her from hunting, so this is the best thing I've found.

My dog and I spend a lot of time walking/hiking our WV hills. I wanted to make sure my dog wasn't mistaken for a deer during hunting season. This vest is a wonderful solution. She is highly visible, even at a distance, running along the ridgeline or along creek bottoms. It is simple to put on her, attaching with Velcro to her collar and around her waist. It is lightweight and does not hinder any of her movements. She did not mind wearing it at all. In fact, she is happy to see it, knowing it means we are going for a walk. This vest is durable and does not catch in brush or get snagged on briars. Rain rolls right off of it. I have no negatives to offer about this vest. This is my second purchase of this product. After repeated heavy use over several years, the Velcro on the original vest has started to wear and is not holding as well. I would consider that inevitable, not a defect of this product. I highly recommend this vest. My dog and I both love it.

We have used these for many years and currently use them for two dogs. We keep two sets, one day and one night. They are "pre-loaded" on their own collars so we don't have to keep attaching to a collar, plus they fit better this way. We have sewn fabric bands on either side of the reflective tape on the night vests and attach flashing lights. Why not spend $15 to save your dog's life? I can't tell you how many of these we have bought in the last 13 years. Great product. We found that a slightly smaller size than recommended fit our dogs better (deep chested dogs).

Bought one for each of my dogs. They're avid hikers/off leash runners. The fit was good. Good visibility and they're light so they don't interfere with the dogs movements. Only issue was the Velcro wore out after a year where they attach around the collar. Not a big deal considering the price and if you're comfortable with a sewing machine. I'd buy them again, but fixing the ones I have is just as effective.

By: Rick Hayhoe

Actually I'd rate this as very good, somewhere between good and excellent, and I have to say it's the better of the two kinds I've used.

Good points are high visibility from the sides, including reflective strips, and the fact that the velcro allows the dog to get loose if hung up in brush by the vest, which I have seen happen twice. Another vest I've used makes it too hard for the dog to get free. The vest washes easily and sheds most dirt. The fluorescent orange will fade with time, naturally, but more slowly with this vest than the other I heve tried.

The one negative I have encountered is that the front flap has to be brought under and around the dog's collar for attachment, which can be difficult to do at times--in the rain, if the dog is very wet or if the dog is excited. You have to make sure the dog's collar is aligned where it normally rests, too, because if it is rotated as you put the vest on, it will pull the vest over to one side or the other as it rotates back to its natural position. I'd like to see it attach to the dog's neck independent of the collar. The other vest I've tried does, but it does so by using plastic locking lugs that are too hard for the dog to break loose if hung up. Velcro works better in that situation.

The vest is exactly what I thought it would be. Excellent value for the money. I measured and ordered per the size chart. It is a little small, and I would order the next size up next time. It does the job - very easy to spot your dog. However the fit is weird. One end loops around the dogs collar, and the back part loops around the belly. It seems like no matter where I position the belly strap, the vest slides back and pulls on the collar. This cannot be comfortable for the dog. Although, it is more comfrotable than getting shot, so she will wear it until I find a suitable replacement.

Owns 2 dogs. Family pet.

Twists on the collar, so it's usually laying to one side. Otherwise, does the job.

Product Rating: 3 out of 5-stars.

Customer Review #6141

By: Henry D Lewis

Hunts. Family pet.

I have a 40lb dog that the Medium fits well. I ordered a small for a 28lb dog that was too small. The vest held up in the yard, but ripped on the first field outing. This is on a squirrel dog and not a bird dog, but the brush was not tough at all. Would better serve made out of cordura instead of a lightweight polyester.

Product Rating: 2 out of 5-stars.
