Today we're looking at the Kane galvanized double waterer. This is an automatic waterer. It's designed to be used in a kennel run. It's set up where you slide it in between your kennel panels and you've got water on both sides. That's kind of the concept behind it.
I've got some folks that use it that way. I've got one that I use, but I don't use it that way. I have it in my backyard. It's the automatic waterer that I use for the dogs that are up at the house.
Automatic waterers are really not that complicated of a concept. You take your water hose, screws into the back here. And then you've got a float in the middle. And so, it fills up. Same kind of float that's in a commode. The water level rises, it cuts off the valve. Once the dogs drink it down a little bit the valve opens up, water fills up, valve rises, cuts it off. Pretty simple concept, really.
I like this one for a couple of reasons. It's big and it sits on the ground so you don't have to attach it to anything. It's made out of galvanized metal, which galvanized metal is designed not to rust. It will turn a little bit. And so, you want to keep that in mind.
I've had mine for 10 years probably. Pretty simple device. Works great. You want to be careful with automatic waterers. You don't want to forget about them. It's one of those things where you can get into a habit of not thinking about them and something goes wrong. Then you've got a problem. I check mine at least once a day, twice a day just to make sure everything is working out great. You want to make sure they are out of the sunlight so that you don't grow algae in them. You want to take them out and clean them from time to time.
But, beyond that it's just a great tool. I use mine every day. The dogs in the backyard, they love them. It works great in the kennel. Just a reasonably priced automatic waterer. Kane makes really solid gear.
