Gun Dog Supply Exclusive: One Hour BASIC OBEDIENCE Ecollar Training Video
$40 Value -- You get this FOR A PENNY when you buy this ecollar.
We are proud to announce that Professional Dog Trainer Robin MacFarlane is working with us! We just wrapped another video shoot, and are launching her latest DVD.
What's interesting about these videos is that Robin has never worked with these dogs before, and several younger dogs have never been trained on an ecollar.
First, Robin walks you through the basic obedience commands showing what proper form looks like.
Next, Robin shows how she introduces the ecollar to two of Steve's puppies, Jack & Tilly, and shows you how to find the right STIM level to communicate with your dog.
She then turns that into a lesson for your dog to recognize that STIM means pay attention to your handler and expands that into a basic recall.
Additional segments include teaching RECALL, PLACE, SIT, and HEEL.

Continuous stimulation allows you to control the length of the correction based on how long you hold the button down
Momentary stimulation delivers a quick preset duration of stimulation (less than 1 second) for enforcing commands your dog already knows and for correcting behavior
Training with STIM:
Tactile dial with clicks between levels allows you to raise and lower the stimulation level by feel without ever having to take your eyes off your dog
Teach yardwork/obedience and enforce known commands with lower levels of stimulation
Use higher levels to stop unwanted chasing or to overcome strong distractions
Contact Points:
Insulated contact points ensure consistent and reliable stimulation in the water
Includes interchangeable contact points for long or short-coated dogs
Garmin SPORT PRO Range
3/4 mile range, which is ample for most dog training or for hunting with close-working field dogs. Maximum range is based on "line of sight." This means that to get the full range out of a system there should be nothing between the transmitter and the receiver, and the terrain should be flat and open. This isn't going to happen in most places that we spend time with our dogs. The range on all of the systems that we carry will vary depending on training conditions, including weather, terrain, and the presence of cover.
Remember, too much range will never hurt, but too little could be a problem.
We are really happy to have a new version of the BEST SELLING Tri-Tronics Sport series training collar back on the market.
The Sport series has been one of our best selling products since the late 1990's when the original Sportsman collars came out. Over time, the newer versions were incredibly popular, including the Sport 50, Sport 60, Sport 80, Sport Basic and Sport Combo.
Garmin based the design of the Sport PRO on the most popular version of the Tri-Tronics Sport collars -- the Sport Basic.
The Sport Basic was incredibly popular with many dog trainers because of it's ease of use and durable design. The choice of stimulation levels made it one of the best collars on the market, especially for folks looking for a high quality, no look, durable system with all of the reliability of the Tri-Tronics name.
Garmin's Sport PRO continues this history of simple innovation and design.
The Sport PRO is perfect for a wide range of dog folks looking for a tough, dependable unit that is designed for no-look, one-handed operation.
The Sport PRO is designed for folks looking for a unit that does not use an LCD Screen but has buttons, dials and toggle switches.
The Sport PRO features a small transmitter that is easy to hold and comfortable to use.
The Sport PRO has 10 levels of both momentary and continuous stimulation with tone and vibration options.
The Sport PRO has built-in Running Lights so your dog can easily be seen at night.
The Sport PRO also includes the latest version of Garmin's built-in "PRO Bark Limiter" bark collar to control nuisance barking.
The Sport PRO is a good choice for working with any breed of dog.
Ten intensity levels can be quickly adjusted with the dial on the side of the transmitter. Teach yardwork/obedience and enforce known commands with lower levels of stimulation. Use higher levels to stop unwanted chasing or to overcome strong distractions.
The Sport PRO is one of the only systems that has Tone and Vibration features that you can use without having to change the dial.
This allows you the option of teaching multiple non-stimulation commands that you can access quickly from the transmitter.
The Sport PRO uses the top of the line PRO collar.
This is the same collar that is used on the Garmin PRO 70 and PRO 550.
The Sport PRO has the built-in Bark Limiter just like the other Garmin PRO units.
Unlike the PRO units, the Sport has both an Autorise feature and a Direct Set option. I really prefer the Direct Set feature for tough barkers that need higher levels.
The Sport PRO is expandable.
Purchase a one dog system and add up to two additional dogs at any point in the future if your needs change. The Sport PRO uses a color coded 3 position toggle switch that allows you to move from dog to dog without having to look at the transmitter. The color positions on the handheld match the collar strap colors so you always know which dog is which.
Just like other PRO units, the Sport PRO has Running Lights or Beacon Lights on the collar.
These lights can be turned off and on remotely and are great for seeing your dog in the dark.
Another cool addition to the Sport PRO is the Garmin built-in Spine Mount.
This allows you the option of using several of Garmin's accessories with your Sport PRO handheld.
A few of our guys on staff have been testing the Sport PRO the last few weeks. Several are planning on switching to it as their main collar.
This is a GREAT collar and all of the new Garmin improvements make it even better.
I expect the Sport PRO to quickly become one of our best selling systems.
I'm very happy with the size of the remote. It fits in my hand or pocket without being cumbersome.
Pros
Size extra settings
Cons
I wish it had high, medium, and low on each level.

My dog trainer recommended this collar for my young rescue dog, who is high energy and inclined to run throughout our 15 acres. The collar reminds her to come when called and not wander off into the woods. Easy to use and effective.
Pros
Easy to use. Rapidly recharges.

I've had these collars for a few years now. Replaced my old TriTronics collars (remote broke, couldn't get replacement) for this one. Never thought I'd care or need the bark limiter but it has come in handy. Love the light. I can't believe how long they last before needing charged

Great product. Great support
March 21, 2023
I'm a 74 year old woman with two hip replacements and back issues. This is my second brand of electronic collar. I'm not a hunter but need a collar for my very headstrong, rather large rescue Lab, Rottweiler, Beagle cross. I know! He's conflicted, but a fun loving happy dog. This Garmin collar is easy to set up right out of the box, is easy to understand and easy to use the hand held controls to really dial in what works and use no more than necessary. I've put a lot of hours of training into my dog and this collar will help to advance that even more. I had one question during my ordering process and I received an answer immediately. This collar is far superior to the first one I had which was another well reviewed brand of similar cost.
Cons
One small thing: the button to turn the receiver on and off can be a little tricky with old arthritic fingers.

We've got a Great very smart and precious six month old Black Lab. She's very eager to please however, when it came to jumping on people, young and old 🥴 and not good at leaving things she shouldn't get into. Shock collars seemed to an abusive way to get her to mind, but we didn't want her to injure an infant or elderly person. We have previously purchased a Bizzie Bed from Gun Dog Supply and were very impressed with it's quality, so thought we would try a satisfaction guaranteed E-collar. The DVD was very helpful, and we began by trying the tone and vibrate mode. Got her attention and briefly worked, but found shock setting three really caught her attention without being too traumatic. Long story short, we've taken down our carpet protection barriers and she stays on the designated areas in our house. When we tell her to leave something we don't want her to be messing with indoors and outside, she MINDS! Absolutely a great tool and can be used with gentleness, compassion and kindness. Highly recommended but like any other tool, there is a learning curve.
Pros
Works Great
Cons
Could be misused or abused, but in the right hands with kindness and patience it is an invaluable tool

Garmin Tri-Tronics Sport Pro is a great collar
April 8, 2022
I have been buying products from Gun Dog Supply for years. Everything that I have purchased has met or exceeded my expectations.I have had several training collars over the years. But, I like this one the best. It is much easier to use.I run my dogs several time daily. I have deer, turkeys, geese, squirrels, and pet ducks on the property. My wife frowns upon the dogs chasing her pet ducks. This collar has been an effective tool in training my dogs.
Pros
Very easy to set up and use. Steve has several videos online that explain how to use the various features. Since this collar performs a lare number of tasks the videos were very helpful even to an experienced person who has used them for decades.
The best thing is the new user interface. You can use most ot the common functions without taking your eyes off of your dog. This is much better than the last one I had.
Also, there are separate buttons for tone and vibrate. The last one I had only allowed you to use one or the other a time. You had to look at the device to change from one to the other. I prefer using the tone as a first option. Then I use vibrate if the dog does not respond. Neither of these hurts the dog. As a last resort I use momentary or continuous shock.
Cons
I have not encountered any yet.

Easy To Use & It Works!
February 15, 2022
I've used an Alpha 100 for years when I was hunting my Beagles and loved the features, however both of my darling girls have passed away. I have a young Doberman now and since she is not a hunting breed and stays much closer to me when we hike out, I decided I wanted an e-collar that was easy and simple to use. After some research and watching a few of Steve's video reviews, I felt that the Sport Pro was exactly what I needed. I am not disappointed in this product.
Pros

More compact and less complicated
Does not need to be recharged frequently

my first electronic collar
February 8, 2025
This is my first ever electronic collar - I haven't used it for a correction yet, because I'm totally new to this training process - I'm still learning about how and why to use it. This is what I like: it's easy to figure out and seems easy to use, my dog doesn't mind wearing it. What I wish were better or different: (1) I wish the tone had different volume settings, as it's too loud for a dog that's wearing the collar. (2) I wish the "shock" feature had more levels. I tried a level 1 on the palm of my hand - couldn't feel it. Tried a level 2 and it buzzed me. Tried a level 3 and I felt like I had been burned and had to throw the thing on the floor. I have a very sensitive border collie who is going to need something in between these settings. Also, wish the "continuous" button was bigger, or had texture on it. I would hate to hit this button by accident when I was trying to press something else.

This is my second Garmin E-collar. I have the Pro 550 and the sport pro. I go to reach for the sport pro much more with its easy use. Once you learn to use an e-collar properly it is an amazing tool and will greatly improve your relationship with your pup and what is better than That!!
Pros

Just wish the Collar could be paired to two different handhelds at the same time but that's just because we have more dogs and two handlers at times.

THE BEST TRAINING COLLAR
November 24, 2024
This collar is easy to operate and vary the stimulation used to train your dog. I have also been using the bark limiter setting to control nuisance barking. I plan on buying another since my other dog has decided to fill the silence with his barking. I have used a couple of other training collars and this is by far and away the best collar. It works at the distances promised and the dog will react to it no matter how stubborn. I am completely satisfied with this product.
Pros
Easy to operate, multiple settings and feedback methods.
Cons
I only bought one and wish I had bought two.

Perfect Collar for me
September 20, 2024
This collar replaced a Sport that was 15 years old. Love the size and simplicity of the transmitter. Reaches out plenty far enough for what I do.. Used with a 7 year old lab that knows when the collar goes on we are headed to the lake and he gets very excited. Great collar at an affordable price. Only negative I have is that the collars are no longer repairable.

Great Training Aid
July 30, 2024
I have used the Sport Pro now for over a month. I use it as a daily training aid during yard work and training in the field. For hunting in unfamiliar places where I need tracking, I use a Garmin Alpha. The Sport Pro receiver is small and compact. The receiver is also easy to use single handed without having to look at it - so corrections are very fast. The tone and vibrate functions also work well by breaking the dog's concentration on distractions without having to use stimulation.
Pros
small, compact, very easy to use, easy to charge, durable so far.
Cons
none really, a belt clip/holster would be handy if it was available.

Finally, a collar that makes sense
July 29, 2024
I bought this collar after trying several others. I like this collar as it is easy to use and highly adjustable. I bought from GunDogSupply as it came with a video and long lead. Both of these would have been additional costs elsewhere and were very helpful in training.
Pros
Multiple levels. At the first twitch of the ears, I know I have his attention. No need to go further. Can adjust easily anytime. The bark collar setting seems to help with his nuisance barking. Easy to charge. Easy to know if the battery needs recharging. Garmin quality. Highly recommend GunDogSupply for fast ship and excellent value and customer service. Good videos on how to use. DVD is excellent.
Cons
Transferring from the bark setting on the collar to the bark setting on the handheld requires being able to reach the collar and turn it off. Using the bark setting at the handheld drains the battery faster. Finally, I decided when I am not home, set it on the collar. When home, use the handheld. Expensive compared to other brands but more effective.

Great product
July 6, 2024
This is a great product. Many features. I use two of them because I run 4 dogs. I have two dogs on each remote. One set has solid collars the other has reflective collars. The reason I run two is no one makes a 4 dog collar with this many features. 10 levels of stim, vibrate and tone. bark collar capable as well has lights which is good when camping. I use center toggle as a neutral on each remote and can easily switch up or down depending on which dog I'm running. Both units were purchased from fun dog supply. Also Steve has great videos on line that explain all the features. I highly recommend this setup.
Pros
Lights, bark collar capable as well as tone and vibrate. Compact and easy to carry when attached to the Garmin carabiner lanyard. Good range.
Cons
Only use for up to three dogs. I wish Garmin made a 4 dog option.
Didn't have a collar choice and had to order reflective collar separately.
